Designers Dish: Top Home Design Trends for 2025

As we look ahead on the year to come, so do we look forward to adopting and adapting new design trends to our builds. As a design and build contractor, we not only follow the latest trends, but we also encourage new trends of our own, led by our expert in-house designers Heather and Emily.

Personalized Luxury

The concept of “personalized luxury” is at the forefront of home design in 2025. We’ve found a lot of homeowners don’t just want off-the-shelf solutions; they crave customized features and finishes that truly reflect their individual tastes and preferences. While this has always been the focus of our custom designs, this type of personalized luxury is making its way into the mainstream.

One such example can be found in our Huyck house design from late 2024. David and Mandee Huyck wanted one of the rooms in their new house to be a dedicated space for relaxation, contemplation, and bourbon sipping. So we created a space just off the main entrance that’s drenched in leather and wood, making a custom ceiling and a custom arched doorway that hint at familiar undertones found in bourbon while still fitting the home’s general aesthetic.

Detailed Trims

In the pursuit of creating visually striking and luxurious interiors, detailed trim work has become a standout trend. Our design team has been adding intricate and decorative trim elements throughout our builds, from ornate crown moldings to delicate chair rail accents.

These architectural details add depth, dimension, and a touch of elegance to any space. These small but impactful details elevate the overall design and create a sense of refined sophistication, something that many homeowners would like to see even in more modest builds.

Color Drenching

One of the most striking trends in 2025 is the concept of “color drenching,” where walls, trim, and ceilings are all painted in the same hue. This monochromatic approach creates a comforting effect, enveloping the occupants in a harmonious and inviting space.

Homeowners are embracing rich, moody tones like deep emerald greens, sultry plums, and earthy terracotta shades for this technique. The effect can be applied either boldly, with rich and moody tones, or more subtly with muted pastels or warm grays. In either case, the result is a space that exudes both calming and captivating feelings with a sense of depth and intentionality that sets it apart from traditional color schemes.

Pattern Mixing

In a departure from the minimalist trends of the past, 2025 is all about embracing pattern and texture. Our recents builds have included bold mixes of patterns, from bright, floral wallpapers to intricate jacquard curtains and dynamic tiling styles that differ, but in a way that is most complimentary.

This eclectic approach to design allows us to express the personal style and visually stimulating environments our clients have come to love. The key to successful pattern mixing lies in striking a balance with a cohesive color palette and intentional placement of contrasting patterns throughout the space.

Antique-Inspired Pieces

In a nod to the timeless allure of the past, antique-inspired furniture and accessories are making a strong comeback in 2025. Our design team has made it a point to integrate vintage or vintage-inspired pieces into modern spaces, creating a harmonious blend of old and new.

A weathered, oak farmhouse table paired with sleek, contemporary chairs, or a gilded, ornate mirror hung above a minimalist console table – it’s all about creating a juxtaposition that adds depth and character to the home. With the simple inclusion of antique-inspired elements, homeowners can create a space with unique and captivating charm.
