The Kentucky Lakes Area: A Hidden Paradise in the Heart of Kentucky

The Kentucky Lakes Area

Over the years, MC Homes has built many luxury homes in the quiet but beautiful chunk known as the Kentucky Lakes Area. This hidden gem encompasses a large stretch of land on either side of Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, which sits in western Kentucky and collectively covers over 210,000 acres of water. Existing as the largest body of water between the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico, the region has long maintained a reputation as an outdoorsman’s paradise.

The Kentucky Lakes Area has been a travel destination for outdoorsy types for decades, and even longer has been the home to many Kentuckians who desire the lake lifestyle 24/7/365. Seeing ample opportunity for residential growth, it was for this reason we at MC Homes built more accessible living for those not wanting to worry about the upkeep and maintenance of the land typically attached to these luxurious properties.

Located in the heart of this region, beautiful water views and serene landscapes surround our Eagle Landing Villas. In addition to the relaxing aura of the local environment, the local area also has many amenities to entertain all ages, from retirees to the grandkids, and even more, all within a short drive.

Land Between the Lakes

One of the biggest appeals of the Western Kentucky area is the abundance of outdoor activities provided by the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Teeming with opportunities for hunting, hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-road vehicle trails, the area features 170,000 acres of forests, wetlands, and open lands on a peninsula between Kentucky and Barkley lakes in Western Kentucky and Tennessee.

With access just mere minutes from our Eagle Landing subdivision, just any outdoor activity you can imagine can be a daily activity.

Boating

In the Kentucky lakes area, recreational boating, sailing, and jet skis are among the first activities that come to mind. Whether you’re ready to break out the inner tube and water skis or a slow, scenic sunset boat ride is more your speed, Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley have all the capabilities to enjoy some time on the water.

There are several free public boat ramps peppered throughout the region, and many local docks and marinas offer boat rentals. Not only that, but there are several “Dock & Dine” restaurants along Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley where you can park in a slip to go enjoy a meal.

Beaches

Want to spend the day by the beach without driving all the way to the coast? Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley offer a few options right in your own backyard. Kentucky Dam Village State Park has a sandy beach that is free and accessible to the public. Kentucky Dam Beach and Paris Landing Beach are both free and open to the public.

For “beaches, and more,” you can visit the Kuttawa Recreation Area, which features a protected sandy beach, basketball courts, a playground and flush toilets, all for a nominal fee.

And if you seek a “diamond in the rough,” there is the only-accessible-by-boat location dubbed “The Sands,” a naturally sandy beach along the northern part of the lake. You’ll have to learn the lay of the land first, though, as you won’t find this beach on any official map.

Sporting

Western Kentucky is a sportsman’s oasis. With ample fishing, shooting and hunting opportunities, and guides that know the perfect local secret spots, you’re sure to secure the perfect catch or kill regardless of the season.

For the athletically inclined, the lakes area also offers a plethora of public and private golf courses and driving ranges to practice your swing. For Tennis lovers, Kenlake Tennis Center is right in your neighborhood with both outdoor and indoor courts so you can play all year round. The local area also offers a tennis league if you’re looking for teammates or opponents.

Easy Interstate Access

One of the most undersold benefits of the Eagle Landing subdivision is the proximity to city life. Access to Interstate 24 is just minutes away and will connect you to nearby Paducah, a medium-sized river town in western Kentucky, as well as Nashville, just around 2 hours to the south, and St. Louis, Missouri, just under 3 hours to the north. So depending on the type of city escape you’d like to plan, there are ample options for easy day trips or extended weekends.

Find Your Forever Home Today

With these nearby amenities, it’s easy to see why life is better at the lake. And with so many new properties being built as we speak, opportunities will not be around forever. Ready to take the plunge? Check out our available Eagle Landing Waterfront Villas here:
